The Annual Members Meeting of the Brook Forest Community Association is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Thursday September 26. The Association has a members meeting once every year to elect Board members to carry on the necessary Association activities for the following year. For an annual meeting to be convened 10 percent of our membership must either attend the meeting or submit their proxies/absentee ballots. The meeting will be held in the chapel at University Baptist Church, which is located at 16106 Middlebrook Drive. The purpose of the meeting is to fill positions on the Association's Board of Directors and to report on the activities of the Assocation.
Your Association is governed by a seven-member volunteer Board. Each of the seven serves a three-year term, with three positions expiring this year. Incumbents Matt Boykin, Debbie Gurley, and Charles Smitherman are running for re-election, and Butch McAllister is also running for election. Any Brook Forest homeowner that is interested in serving the community is invited to submit their name for consideration. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor of the meeting. Floor nominations require a nomination, a second, and the nominee's consent. Nominees will be asked to give a brief presentation at the meeting.
Proxy/absentee ballots are being mailed to each homeowner for completion and return if you are unable to attend the meeting. The Board cannot emplasize enough the importance of the annual meeting to continuing the work of the Association. If you have any questions concerning the meeting, please contact a Board member or Kathy Dooley at 281-480-2563.
Light refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be awarded (must be present to win).
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Brook Forest is one of Houston's earliest master-planned communities, developed in the 1970s by Friendswood Development, a venture of Humble Oil & Refinery. The homes in the community reflect a wide variety of the architectural styles of the leading home builders of the era. Many of the homes were featured on the original "Street of Dreams".
Residents enjoy the neighborhood's many amenities including a community pool, tennis and pickleball courts, basketball and volleyball courts, a pavilion, walking trails, and children's playground equipment. Horsepen Bayou (which borders the east side of the neighborhood) is a great place to take a nature walk, do a little fishing, and paddle a canoe or kayak along the water.
A variety of special events are held throughout the year. Residents celebrate annually with an Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Bike Parade, and Christmas Snow Day in the Park. Additional events are held seasonally including Spring and Fall "Band in the Park" afternoons.
Brook Forest is in the Clear Creek Independent School District. Armand Bayou Elementary, Brookwood Elementary, Space Center Intermediate, and Clear Lake High School are all in the vicinity. The University of Houston-Clear Lake is located directly across from the Brook Forest, Bay Area Boulevard entrance.
